In Memory of Sylvia Harris
Sylvia Harris (1955-2011) co-founded the Public Policy Lab and served as the organization’s first board chair. She unexpectedly passed away shortly after the PPL’s launch, but her commitment to design for the public interest continues to inspire us, as does her generosity in mentoring other designers. We hope that PPL’s ongoing work can serve as part of her legacy as a ‘citizen designer.’
For a sense of Sylvia’s smarts and charm, see the videos featuring her below. You can learn more about Sylvia’s life and work on the archived website of her firm, Citizen Research & Design, or read this AIGA profile of Sylvia and her design career.
