The Fellow Program

As a component of our technical-assistance program for public agencies, the Public Policy Lab offers project-specific fellowships that allow designers to engage with compelling public-sector work. Fellows provide research, design, and strategic assistance on a consulting basis, typically for terms lasting from 3 to 6 months; a modest honorarium is provided, as are a range of other personal and professional benefits.

Fellow Qualifications

Recipients of our fellowships are experienced professionals from an array of creative disciplines, including design and ethnographic researchers, service designers, UX and interaction designers, architects and planners, information and communications designers, environmental graphic designers, documentary photographers and filmmakers, editors, and producers. We also offer fellowships to policy and management professionals with specializations around the delivery of public services. What our fellows have in common is a belief in the power of design to make public services better for people.

Note that fellowships are offered on an invitation-only basis, or very occasionally through an open call for fellow applicants. We are not accepting applications for fellowships at this time.
